20.09.1995. The International UN Conference on Sustainable Development of countries in the Aral Sea Basin, attended by the Heads of IFAS founder states, Nukus: Adoption of the Nukus Declaration

04.04.2010. The UN Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, visited the Aral Sea. During the meetings with the Heads of the States in the Aral Sea Basin, he specifically addressed the safety and environmental issues of the region. The UN Secretary-General has repeatedly stressed that the creation of IFAS is the perfect tool to support social and economic development of all Central Asian countries. He expressed the hope that future decisions on the Aral Sea will consider the growing threat posed by the climate change and promised to provide extensive assistance through the UN.
